Amitabh Singh

Amitabh Singh was born in Calcutta, India into a Hindu family. Since he could remember, his mother and father taught him to appreciate India’s varied traditions, and more importantly, to respect people of all faiths. His father worked as a successful businessman and his hard work and honest example inspired Amitabh from an early age to a career in management.

When he was just three years old, his parents enrolled him into a private school founded by missionary legends, Mark and Huldah Buntain, founders of Calcutta Mercy Ministries. One day, a friend from school gave Amitabh a Bible, in which Amitabh read about the story of a remarkable man named Jesus. Reading further, he discovered a God who could love, understand, forgive, and meet humanity at the point of their need, and who was much more than a dogma or circular philosophy. Within the year, at fourteen years old, he fearfully yet eagerly accepted Jesus as the one who he believed, and still believes, fulfills his thirst for God.

Amitabh thrived as a student and went on to earn a Bachelors in Commerce and Masters of Divinity degree, and later an MBA. He applied his faith and learning to twenty-five years of service to the poor of Calcutta, teaming up with Calcutta Mercy Ministries to feed, educate and medically treat hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children. In this same span of time, he managed his own consulting company while working with the Christian Broadcasting Network as host to over 300 television programs in English and Hindi.

Amitabh moved to the USA in 2004 to serve as Director of Financial Services for Mission of Mercy, an organization funding 250 projects in 19 of the poorest countries. He took on a new mantle in 2011 as Executive Director of a Canadian non-profit, pursuing his passion to help children worldwide through education, food, and healthcare, while designing administrative protocols that raise accountability standards within organizations. Additionally, he is an author, weekly blogger and speaker, currently writing two new books: Round Pizza in a Square Box and Spiritual Tippani from India. Amitabh lives in Toronto, Canada with his wife and two daughters. More at AmitabhSingh.com
