A Message to High School Seniors

I know what it felt like to sit in your chair.
To sit right where you are.
To wonder,
To hope,
To wish for.
To be in a place where the future is reveled in chunks.
Where life is a muddy canvas,
and a clean canvas
at the same time.
To have people ask you “what you are going to do?”
Then only to yourself ask God, “what do you want me to do?”
To have to “decide.”
Where its seems like life, and its decisions are a series of Crossroads,
Decisions that echo into the future.
At this crossroad you need to know this...
Becoming like Jesus and Coming to Jesus are two different things.
One happens in a moment, and one never ends.
Discovering his Will for you is a entirely different journey.
It is reveled this way...
God’s will is discovered.
Take the pressure off the decision, understand the discovery,
in fact, Enjoy the Discovery.
His Will is discovered....
as we live the way He intended, righteously,
not self righteously,
but right living before God.
Even when He is the only one looking,
and He always is looking.
Treasure what He treasures,
storing up treasures in heaven,
where moth cannot eat, rust cannot decay and thieves cannot steal.
storing up treasures of the heart.
His will is finally discovered when we
“master the Noise.”
So to often its the NOise that keeps us from our “Encounter,”
Keeps us from seeing the Burning Bush,
Keeps us from hearing the Burning Bush,
Keeps us from even noticing the Shrub is Burning.
The noise is what you and the next generations will battle like no other.
The noise is growing louder with every passing year.
You see,
When we start our day.
We all have a choice to check our Facebook
or read his Gods word first.
We usually choose the noise.
We all have a choice to set ourselves in a place where His voice is the loudest.
Where the Noise is not the main thing.
To be in a place Where BUSHES BURN.
You have a Choice.
You can Choose.
You see, There is more.
More to your life,
the future,
MOre to this School,
than just a school.
more than JUST answers to the questions you currently hold,
these questions like a arrow in a bow.
You heart sometimes feels like the target,
where the questions pierce to your very being.
and if unanswered, cloud your vision.
You can feel it,
It stirs in your heart like flame turned wild.
You are at a Crossroads.
You are at a moment to become, More.
What will you choose?
What will you seek?
If you were my son or daughter I would tell you to SEEK the kingdom first.
No matter what your “planned” future holds.
I would tell you to at least take a year from your life and SEEK God.
2/3 of high school students that say they love Jesus at the end of a 4 year
secular college experience are walking away from their faith.
Deciding God is nothing.
Letting their lives drift away from what they were Created to do.
1/3 is left standing like lone oaks in a field of mediocrity.
I think the rapid consumption of your generations faith is because you fail to SEEK.
YOU decide to PLAN.
This devouring of your faith is because there was NO ENCOUNTER.
There maybe knowledge, maybe experience but the
BURNING BUSH MOMENT IS MISSING.
I tell you now,
before you Go and set the people free that God has for you, just as MOses.
Before you walk into the snake pit like a bear robbed of her cubs,
before you devour the darkness like a lioness,
like a wild beast, tear the very flesh of evil.
before all that.
You must have your Encounter.
You must know what your Burning Bush is, and then, was.
Its not something you can manufacture,
But you can SEEK it.
You see the kingdom of God and ALL the things will be added.
things like the career
things like a spouse,
things like a calling,
things like the unknown,
things that you sit even now and wonder,
and list in your mind.
SEEK first the kingdom,
SEEK Jesus.
The BUSH is BURNING, will you walk by it?
Or will it be your ENCOUNTER.

Canvas

We are born a blank canvas.
Before birth, there was the Artist at work,
his design flawless.
We just needed to follow his brush,
his flawless design.
But we create on our own.
We decide to make, us.
The blank canvas soon becomes,

us.

Nothing more.
A mess.
A mess seemingly like nothing,
There is something.
Beneath it,
over it,
around it.
There is someone.
Hope,
Love,
Grace.
In a name,

Jesus.

In Him we become the Canvas,
where the Artist paints,
yet again.
Using us,
Using the mess,
To create a new work.
A Beautiful mess.
A mess is unfinished,
A mess is incomplete,
A mess is imperfect,
A mess is in process,
We are the mess.

The unfinished mess.

The beautiful unfinished mess.

The Artists work is not done.
His work is unfolding.
A longer than life unveiling
We are to Him,
a blank Canvas.
A work of art that is your life,
your story,
your mess,
what I call,
your

Canvas.

Painting Hope Promo

Painting Hope exists to use art as the vehicle to provide messages of hope.  It is a process that involves the communities and peoples it serves within our specific programs. Painting Hope is an idea communicated through live art performance and speaking that things can be better for those in need.

Within each program, community involvement and partnership is our mission to invest for the betterment of our families, schools, community and world by harnessing the power of art, humor and the human spirit. This is accomplished through our five programs offered.

We provide value based public school assemblies that capture and challenge your students. We are partners within community based mentorship programs. Painting Hope serves hospice and behavioral health counseling based centers with inspirational live art performances. We labor with local and national organizations for disaster relief efforts including exposure and fundraising. Painting Hope inspires and entertains members of corporations while strengthening the brands we make “come alive” at various business events.

Painting Hope is a 501.c.3 nonprofit that offers HOPE and INSPIRATION through ART.
