What Ruler are you Using?
Just recently i was reading through Nehemiah and was again captured by the strategic plan of God and how he longs to work through imperfect individuals. God has a plan and gives a lot of rope to maneuver but in the end we must trust Him fully. The Israelites were brought right up to the border of Canaan but could not take the last step of faith.
We are admonished over and over again in scripture that we must live by faith and not by sight but most of the spies were overcome by what they saw. They reported to Moses, "There we saw the giants and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight."
Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek him. The Lord typically does not reward indifference.
I have found that living a life of faith requires me to make decisions that cannot be based on what i know about myself. Sizing up myself to every challenge or difficulty will always end up minimizing the strength and power of God.
So my bold challenge this week to you and i is that the omnipotence of God would be the measure of our expectation!
